The Gadjah Mada University (GMIF) program is not only open to international students at UGM, but also to ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and more.

The program is dedicated to designing full-time and dual master's and doctoral degree programs and research. The program seeks to encourage potential candidates with excellent academic performance to pursue a master's and doctoral program in any relevant suitable and agreed field. Special skills such as researchers, policymakers, or professionals will be preferred.

Number of Fellowship:

The number of fellowships that were offered for GMIF Batch 4 is as follows:

  1. 10 fellowships of a full-time master degree program
  2. 4 fellowships of a full-time doctoral degree program
  3. 5 fellowships of a partial master degree program

Benefits of Indonesia Scholarships:

Most of the major student expenses would be covered by the UGM Indonesia Fellowship program. These benefits will help the selected fellows to focus on studies. Indonesia Scholarships for international students at UGM has two types of scholarship programs:

1. GMIF Partial Scholarship:

This is the first type of GMIF fellowship program. GMIF Partial Scholarship would be offered to the international students who belong to the below-given countries(eligible countries detail is given below). To be eligible for GMIF Partial Scholarship, applicants should be aware of their obligation to partially pay the cost which is associated with their living and study during their stay in Indonesia

Full tuition fee waiver (4 semesters for Master Program, 2 semesters for Double Degree Program)

  1. 1 semester for Indonesian Language Program
  2. An economy-class round-trip international airfare 
  3. Health insurance during the fellowship program
  4. Limited Stay Permit during the fellowship 
  5. Rp10.000.000 of Thesis research fund for Master Program
  6. Selected fellows would have to cover their own living expenses during their studies in Indonesia. The normal cost of living expenses is US210

2. GMIF Full Scholarship:

This is the second type of GMIF fellowship program. To be eligible for the GMIF Full Scholarship, you have to belong from Latin America, Asia, Africa, The Pacific, Middle East, and East Europe.

  1. Full tuition fee waiver (and 6 semesters for Doctoral Program, 4 semesters for Master Program, 2 semesters for Double Degree Program )
  2. The living allowance would be given according to the Yogyakarta rate
    1. 1 semester for Indonesian Language Program
    2. 4 semesters for Master Program
    3. 6 semesters for the Doctoral Program
  3. An economy-class round-trip international airfare 
  4. Health insurance
    1. Limited Stay Permit during the study in Indonesia
  5. Rp15.000.000 of thesis fund for Doctoral Program and also Rp10.000.000 of Thesis fund for Master Program
  6. Student Dormitory

Eligibility Criteria:

If you want to apply for UGM Indonesia Scholarships than you should read the following points so that you can know whether you are eligible or not for applying:

Eligible Countries: All international students including ASEAN member countries (excluding Indonesia), Taiwan, China, South Korea, Japan

Other Requirements:

  1. Applicants must have to accept the admission in masters or doctoral degree program on regular basis in Gadjah Mada University for the academic year 2021/2022 which is expected to start in august
  2. Applicants should have a bachelors degree to apply for masters degree program
  3. Applicants should have a masters degree to apply for Ph.d degree program
  4. Applicant should have bachelors or masters degree in Agriculture, Medicine/Health, Engineering, Law, Science, Geography, Forestry, Animal Science, Economics, Social Sciences and Humanity, or related fields
  5. Aplicants should have excellent academic record in bachelors degree containing at least of 3.0/4.0 CGPA 
  6. Applicants should have Good proficiency skill in English language(minimum 400 scores for applying Master Degree or 450 scores for applying Doctoral Program in TOEFL)
  7. Dissertation proposal for doctoral program applicant
  8. supporting documents is required
  9. Applicants should be able to travel to Indonesia after selection
