Spring Summer School Scholarship in Bulgaria 2020 - Fully Funded

The Centre for Advanced Study Sofia (CAS) is an independent non-profit institution set up for the promotion of advanced scholarship and academic cooperation in the Humanities and Social Sciences.This Spring School, scheduled to run for six days, will envisage to tackle these questions (and some more); bringing together senior and junior scholars, from different countries and disciplines, the School will aim to discuss archaeology in the 21st century, under the light of recent theoretical, social and political developments in Southeastern Europe.

Three days of lectures by eminent archaeologists, social historians, and cultural anthropologists on the general topic of "Politics and/within Archaeology" will be followed by a one-day specialist workshop on "The archaeology of ethnic phenomena and the pervasiveness of methodological nationalism"

Spring Summer School Scholarship in Bulgaria 2020  is providing fully funded summer exchange program in Sofia,a city of Bulgaria, which will cover the following expenses.

Exepnses which will cover by this program:

  1. A Daily Stipend of $43 will be given.
  2. One Round Airfare Air Ticket.
  3. Free Accommodation will also be offered to selected participants.

Eligible Countries:  Participants from any nationality are elibile to Apply.

Eligibility Criteria for Summer School Scholarship in Bulgaria 2020 Program:

  1. Applications are welcome from doctoral archaeology and art-history students as well as recent PhDs and young faculty members
  2. The applicants must be fluent in English.
  3. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an academic and/or professional engagement with archaeology in Southeastern Europe. Also, they must have an active interest in archaeological theory and practice.

Important Note: Successful applicants must attend all lectures, workshops, group discussions, gallery classes, and any other School meeting or event, as well as present a 20′-paper of their own at the junior scholar’s colloquium.

Required Documents for Apply:

  1. A personal statement of up to 1000 words detailing their research, as well as their reasons for wishing to attend. CAS expects applicants’ research aligns with the theme of the school.
  2. A recent CV.
  3. A copy of their most recent degree in archaeology, art history or a related discipline.
  4. An abstract of up to 500 words of the specific paper they wish to present at the colloquium.
