Korean Government Scholarships 2021

Korean education is a single tracking system based on 6-6-3-4 formula, which includes six years of primary school, three years of middle school, three years of high school and four years of university graduation. There are nine years of compulsory education, including 6years of primary education and 3 years of secondary school. There are two semesters in the academic year, the 1^st semester is from March to August and the 2^nd from September to February.

Summer vacations are available from July to August in summer and in December during winter. Korea is internationally recognized for its outstanding performance in the field of education. Korea is ahead of the OECD countries in terms of academic achievement and academic competition. In 2021, the Korean Government Global Korea Scholarship Program aims to invite many international students from 153 departments who want to pursue a master's or doctoral, or research degree in Korea.

Nationality

1. Applicants belonging to any part of the world are eligible to apply except applicants with Korean citizenship.
2. Korean citizens and dual citizenship holders (The one with Korean citizenship and and the other of another citizenship) are NOT eligible to apply.
3. Those applicants and their parents who had previously held with Korean citizenship must submit the document that will prove their renunciation of Korean citizenship.

Age

1. Applicants should be under 40 years of age
2. Academic professors who are under 45 years of age

Degree Requirements

1. Applicants should have or must be expected to hold a Bachelor's, Master's or a Doctoral degree
2. Doctoral Program Applicants: Applicants for doctoral scholarships / Ph.D scholarships should have masters degree to apply for bachelors degree
3. Master‟s Program Applicants: Applicants for Masters scholarships should have an undergraduate degree to apply for masters degree
4. Research Program Applicants: Such applicants should hold a degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a Master‟s degree and also should have received an invitation from one of NIIED‟s designated Korean universities.
